  2. Steven Schnoll Says:

    What is in a name?
Brand identity is generally associated with a company’s name, tag line and logo. From the first day a corporation is created it’s public face is critical to its success. Many companies take the name from the industry they specialize it – oil, telephone, equipment, etc. once they expand their business model however, the original name confines them. Many businesses change their name completely Standard Oil of New Jersey, now Exxon-Mobil; New York Telephone, now Verizon; and Anderson Consulting now Accenture are a few of the very prominent ones. Others take a more simplistic route, instead of radically changing the name they just use the old names initials – International Business Machines, IBM; National Cash Register, NCR; American Telephone and Telegraph, AT&T. The list is endless and provides perhaps an easier way to accomplish a first step in the rebranding effort. Technology is overriding how every company impacts its customers, having a name which conjures up an old world image may be detrimental. Think about the image your corporate name portrays. Is it worth changing as the first step in your rebranding effort?

  16. Steven Says:

Rebranding is not an easy task. One must first visualize what you want or need to be . Then look at other companies that have successfully rebranded. Companies of all sizes have been rebranding for years. There are many great lessons to be learned from others. The main thing is not to think too big. Just plan one task at a time. Maybe a name change is a good starting point and then a new tagline. Next you want to offer a new service that illustrates what you can now do for your customers that you never did before.
Remember think simple and do it in small steps. You will be amazed how one thing follows after another. It is just like learning how to walk or talk. One step or word at a time.
